Every acupuncturist has a fundamental working knowledge of the basics of biomedicine and neurology. However, in the last decade or so there has been an explosion of new research in the field. While working in a busy practice, it can be difficult to stay current on the many breakthroughs which are occurring, and even harder to determine how to best incorporate these new findings into practical clinical applications. Dr. Gorsuch is an expert in this field and has been involved in a grand rounds program with medical doctors. He has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from these physicians, who frequently suggested he open his residency to non-medical doctors.
Based on his learning and education along with his clinical outcomes, Dr. Gorsuch has decided it is time to share his knowledge and experience.
We are proud to announce The Acupuncture Neurology Residency Program is now accepting open applications. This innovate and unique five-day program is specifically designed to enhance the clinical knowledge of neurological assessment and provide the tools be to able to diagnose and treat patients using cutting edge functional neurology applied to acupuncture strategies.
The Acupuncture Neurology Residency Program has two components- Practicum and Didactic. In the Practicum, Residents will personally observe Dr. Gorsuch in his clinical practice, watching various neurological assessments and treatments performed in real time with real patients. In the Didactic, Residents get to take a deep dive in all aspects of functional neurology assessments and treatment strategies for one of the few experts in this emerging field.
This program is ideal for those who have already taken a course with Acupuncture Neurology and desire more one-to-one learning in an actual clinical setting. However, this opportunity is not limited to those who have attended one of Dr. Gorsuch’s previous workshops. It is open to all acupuncturists.
After completing this Residency Program, you will be able to:
• Utilize quick and easy neurological exams in clinical practice for new patient exams and re-
exams
• Design more effective treatment protocols based on medical history and neurological
assessment
• Maximize your point selection for specific results such as modulating the peripheral and/or
central nervous system
• Assess overall neurological function and use neurological strategies to improve brain health
• Use quick and easy neurological exams to demonstrate objective improvement and verify your
treatments are working
• Confidently and accurately communicate the benefits of your treatments to medical
professionals ranging from primary care providers to neurological specialists
• Use frequency specific currents to acupuncture points to increase specific therapeutic effects
Acupuncture Neurology Residency Practicum- Day 1, 3, and 5
9:00am – 6:00pm (with one hour lunch break)
Spend the day in Clinic with Dr. Gorsuch observing in real time with real patients. Includes everything
Dr. Gorsuch does in a typical day- new patient evaluations, established patient evaluations, neurological
assessments, patient treatments, treatment planning, patient communication, and much more. You will
observe cutting edge neurological assessments using a variety of instruments. Feel free to ask as many
questions as you like- we guarantee you have never seen anything like this!
Acupuncture Neurology Residency Didactic- Day 2 and Day 4
Personal Instruction with Dr. Gorsuch
9:00am – 6:00 (with one hour lunch break)
This is one on one personal instruction, including case study review from previous day of patients,
discussion regarding neurological assessment and interpretation of results, discussion of intended
patient outcomes, review of treatment plans, point selection review and why, and any and all questions
answered. Also includes a deep dive into neurological assessment, covering in depth reviews of
pinwheel testing and fine touch on the trigeminal nerve branches and dermatomes, cervical
proprioception using the laser, cervical proprioception input into the cortex, sensory extinction, point
localization, 2-point discrimination, parietal lobe function, gait observation, dual tasking, saccades, anti-
saccades, frontal lobe function, eye smooth pursuits (H)(V), finger-nose, heel-to-shin-slide, cerebellar
function, and much more!
This program is designed to both educate and inspire! Utilize the material at your own pace- augment
your existing examinations to assist in your decision-making process or totally re-imagine the clinical
aspects of your practice!

ABOUT Dr. John J. Gorsuch, DACM, AP
Dr. Gorsuch holds a doctorate degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and master’s degree in
Oriental Medicine from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine. He has post-graduate education
from the Carrick Institute of Clinical Neuroscience and Rehabilitation and completed their clinical
neuroscience program. Dr. Gorsuch is an NCCAOM and Florida CE Broker approved instructor. He
teaches hands-on courses offering neuroscience-based applications for electro-acupuncture. He runs
the Venice Acupuncture & Functional Neurology clinic in Florida specializing in neurological disorders,
